Traceroute Event Monitor Reference Guide

notitie

Overview

The Traceroute Event Monitor utilizes standard ICMP pings to conduct traceroute analyses to one or more systems. This monitor checks traceroutes for changes in the routes and other differences between monitoring sessions, providing insights into potential network issues and configuration changes.

info

Use Cases

  • Receiving alerts about changed routes.
  • Detecting hops with high latency values.

Monitoring Options

Response Times and Route Changes

  • Alert if average response time for a hop is greater than a specified value: Set alerts based on the average response time for each hop.
  • Alert if maximum response time for a hop is greater than a specified value: Set alerts based on the maximum response time observed for each hop.
  • Alert with [Info/Warning/Error/Critical] if the route changed: Receive alerts if there are any changes in the route since the last monitoring session, which could indicate accidental configuration changes or other issues.

Traceroute Settings

  • Maximum number of hops: Define the maximum number of hops the event monitor will trace.
  • Ping each hop: Specify the number of ping requests to send for each hop.
  • Wait time out for each reply: Set the maximum waiting time for each ping response during the traceroute.
