Use Cases
- Ensuring Name Resolution: Verify that your DNS servers are resolving names correctly.
- Detecting Changes in Name Resolution: Receive alerts if DNS resolutions for critical hostnames change unexpectedly.
Monitoring Options
DNS Resolution Settings
- Resolve Name Using: Choose to automatically use the DNS servers assigned to your PIM+ system, or specify a DNS server for targeted testing.
- Alert on DNS Server Unavailability: Receive alerts if the DNS server cannot be reached, indicating potential network or server issues.
- Alert on Name Resolution Failure: Get notified if specific device names fail to resolve to an IP address.
- Alert on IP Address Change: Monitor for changes in the resolved IP addresses from one check to the next, useful for identifying unintended modifications in DNS records. Note: This feature is not suitable for environments using round-robin DNS due to the normal variation in resolved addresses.
