Overview

The SNMP Uptime Event Monitor is designed to monitor the uptime of SNMP-enabled devices, providing alerts if any of these devices have been unexpectedly rebooted. This monitoring is crucial for maintaining the reliability and stability of network infrastructure.

info

Use Cases

  • Tracking the uptime of network devices to ensure continuous operation.
  • Alerting network administrators when a device has been rebooted, which may indicate potential issues or unauthorized activities.

Monitoring Options

Configuration

  • SNMP Version: Select SNMPv1, SNMPv2, or SNMPv3 based on your device's capabilities and security requirements.
  • Community: Enter the community string for SNMPv1 and SNMPv2c; typically "public" is used for read-only access.
  • Port Number: Default is 161, adjustable if your network configuration differs.
  • Timeout: Configure how long the monitor waits for a response, adjustable to accommodate network conditions.
  • Retries: Given the unreliability of UDP, configure retries to ensure reliable data retrieval.

Security Settings (SNMPv3 Only)

  • Username: Required for SNMPv3 authentication.
  • Context: Optionally specify a context string for SNMPv3 connections.
  • Security Level: Choose from noAuthNoPriv, authNoPriv, or authPriv depending on your security needs.
  • Auth. Protocol: Select an authentication protocol such as MD5 or SHA.
  • Auth. Passphrase: Enter the passphrase for SNMPv3 authentication.
