SNMP Process Event Monitor Reference Guide
notitie
Overview
The SNMP Process Event Monitor utilizes SNMP to connect to network devices and retrieve data about the processes running on them. This tool is particularly useful for ensuring that essential processes are operational and for troubleshooting stopped processes on devices that support SNMP.
info
Use Cases
- Detecting when specific processes are running or stopped on network devices.
- Monitoring and managing process status remotely via SNMP.
Monitoring Options
SNMP Configuration
- SNMP Version: Choose the appropriate SNMP version (SNMPv1, SNMPv2, or SNMPv3) based on your device configuration.
- Community: Enter the SNMP community string for SNMPv1 and SNMPv2c. The default for read-only access is typically "public".
- Port Number: Standard SNMP port is 161, customizable if your devices use a different port.
- Timeout: Set how long the event monitor waits for a response. Adjustable based on network conditions.
- Retries: Since SNMP uses UDP, configure retries to improve reliability of data retrieval.
Security Settings (SNMPv3)
- Username: Required for SNMPv3 authentication.
- Context: Optionally specify a context string for SNMPv3 connections.
